Lola Farinu - Only Hope (CCM)

Lola Farinu - Only Hope
Lola Farinu has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Only Hope.

Lola Farinu writes: "I wrote the words to this song while in line at my college registrar's office to pay overdue fees (after requesting several fee deferrals). While sitting there, I realized that God was never late and I could always trust Him, and so I began to pen these lyrics in my Gmail notes:
'I'd be the first to shout that you'll be my only hope
That day I first believed that you were my only hope
Then several examples in scripture began to drop in my heart, and I wrote - the woman with the issue of blood, Zaccheus climbing on a tree, beggar screaming son of David have mercy on me e.t.c and that was how this song came about.'

When I recorded the song, I didn't want it to seem like just my experience so others can be encouraged, so I featured two people who understand the experience of trusting God endlessly in the midst of tough experiences and situations;  one of which is my sibling.
I choose to release this song because I felt I had to and because I believe it is the truth based on Gods word and so I expect it to set people free from the trap we fall into as Christians where we search for our answers/solutions everywhere else but from God; forgetting God is an ever-present help. And although the help may not come how we prefer, God is guaranteed to bring us to an expected end . The song also aligns well with the theme of the album which is based on proverbs 4:18 -where our path as the righteous shines bright unto a perfect day which means our Hope in Jesus will not be dashed away. Its hope is the real deal and we can trust that till the end.

I desire to see individuals and groups of people singing this song with hope and joy being stirred up for situations that are weighing them down. I also want them to sing it when things don’t seem to work out remembering that God is still there and they can trust Him even when it doesn’t look like it."

Lyrics:

I'd be the first to shout
That You'd be my only hope
That day I first believed
That You were my only hope
Just like the woman with the issue of blood
You are my only hope
Zacchaeus climbing high on the tree
Cause You were his only hope
Beggar screaming Son of David have mercy on me
Cause You were his only hope
And forever as long as I live
You'll be my only hope
I'd be the first to shout
That You'd be my only hope
That day I first believed
That You were my only hope
See I've been changed by Your grace
Slowly I see when I move in that pace
Amazing the way that You love me for days
It's crazy that You would even die in my place
Die in my place
So I say only hope, only hope
Yes I rate it only hope, only hope
I believe it yep so I scream at the top of my lungs
Till the day that I finally see it
I see that you hope in the grace
I see that you hope in the faith
I see that you running the race
Obtaining the prize for the thing that is great
My Master, the King over of all
Redeemed all mankind from the fall
You love us regardless, love that is reckless
Always on time when I call
I'd be the first to shout
That You'd be my only hope
That day I first believed
That You were my only hope
I'd be the first to shout
That You'd be my only hope
That day I first believed
That You were my only hope
You are the way, the truth
The light, the hope
That leads me to my future
You are the anchor of my soul Lord
In You I can trust God
You are the way, the truth
The light, the hope
That leads me to my future
You are the anchor of my soul Lord
In You I can trust God
I'd be the first to shout
That You'll be my only hope
That day I first believed
That You were my only hope
You are only hope
You are only hope
You are only hope
I'll be the first to
I'll be the first to shout

"Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" by Stephen M. Miller: Holding On to Grace at Heaven’s Door

Stephen M. Miller's "Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" comes in the quiet aftermath of the Christmas celebrations, when reflection can feel like isolation. Stephen's song isn't about polishing away his mistakes, nor does it encourage you to do so with your mistakes. Stephen shares his painful experience, "I never saw it coming Lord // It felt right but it was wrong // Family and friends have left me // But I still have you and a song."   Stephen owns the fallout of his actions, taking accountability without despair. "I said it and I did it, Lord // Broke more hearts than I'll ever know // I can't fix this, though I've tried // Don't be angry, and please don't go." His song is a prayer for God's presence and guidance. "Hear me when I call you, Lord // Don't turn your face away // Don't give up on me like others have // Come help me through this day." Stephen describes a fear that we too experience when we ...

"Lay Your Weapon Down" by Curtis Ray: The Strength It Takes to Let Go

Pride feels powerful until it costs you everything that matters. Curtis Ray wrote “Lay Your Weapon Down” out of an honest wrestle with something most of us know too well — the pull between proving a point and preserving a relationship. In a world where the loudest voice and the sharpest argument seem to be rewarded, we tend to forget it’s not about surrendering conviction. It’s about asking an important question: “If love is not the motive behind what we say and do, then what are we really fighting for?” That question doesn’t let you off the hook easily. In 1 Corinthians 13:2 (ESV) we read: “And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” The Apostle Paul wasn’t being dramatic here. You can be completely right and still be completely empty. Knowledge, conviction, even faith — none of it carries weight without love underneath it. The song captures the essence of this sc...

"Welcome Home" by Mary Oz: Love Is Already at the Door

What if the door you’ve been afraid to walk through has been open for you all along? “Welcome Home” by Mary Oz recalls one of the most tender stories in the Christian faith — the return of the prodigal son. His return wasn’t a march of shame, nor was it a hero’s parade. It was a quiet, tired walk back to the only place that ever truly knew and loved him. Mary wrote this song with a soft invitation, a conversational opening that builds into something victorious, with harmonies and drums leading the charge. Then settling again into that same warm, assuring, and secure invitation. A progression that mirrors the journey home.  The lyrics remind us that Jesus isn’t asking you to clean up first. “Come in, lost and wild prodigal / ‘Cos Love is waiting by the kitchen door.” There’s no courtroom here. No checklist. Just Love — patient, unhurried, already standing at the door. The broken don’t arrive here as burdens; they arrive as loved ones.  That’s the heartbeat of Luke 15:20: “But ...
