'Leave The Past Behind' by The James Jennings Project: Embrace New Beginnings


The James Jennings Project has given us a gem with his newest song, 'Leave The Past Behind.' It's a heartfelt tune from the album 'Hitchhiking On A Narrow Road,' driven by acoustic guitar and a touch of piano that reminds you of those classic Neil Young and Steely Dan vibes. 

The James Jennings Project - Leave The Past BehindJennings wrote this song while he was going through some disappointments. It's meant to remind us that while our experiences shape us, we still decide if the past can continue to hold us back. We've all faced setbacks - disappointments, shame, and mistreatment. This song acknowledges those feelings completely, and, at the same time, quickly turns the corner and encourages us to move forward. 

The lyrics sing to the pain in your heart, saying, 'Leave the past behind, throw away the chains that hold you back.' It's in our nature to hang onto the past, and it's in our power to let go of everything that binds us, just like it's in our power to ask God to help us let go. Let go, and 'Walk into the light. Open up your eyes and leave the darkness.'

The song is has so many encouragements, like this message: 'Why not take a chance? You will never know until you try it. He won't let you down. You gotta let go, gotta leave the past behind.' It's like James is next to you to give you the nudge you need to embrace the new life that God has waiting for you. 

I really encourage you to sit down, put on your headphones, and listen to 'Leave The Past Behind.' It's a song that doesn't just entertain - it uplifts and inspires.

"Arrows (Psalm 127)" by Matt Rees: Raising Children With God

Children aren’t a burden — they’re a gift. “Arrows (Psalm 127)” by Matt Rees is a simple family-centered message about trusting God to guide you as you build your home. Matt picked up an acoustic guitar and let Psalm 127 speak for itself — warm, simple, family-centered. No embellishment needed. The words carry their own weight. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,” the song opens. “The fruit of the womb is a reward.” This line (quoting Psalm 127:3) points out that children are a “gift/reward from God,” and shouldn’t be confused with “wages you’ve earned” or “proof of divine favor you possess.” This scripture isn’t making a claim about the worth, status, or blessedness of people who don’t have children.
