'Climbing Mountains' by Jesus Saves: A journey with faith, resisting temptations, transformation, and praise.

The album 'Climbing Mountains' by 'Jesus Saves' contains 15 honest and inspiring songs. The songs address five themes:

  1. Jesus Saves - Climbing Mountains (Album)Unwavering Faith
  2. Resisting Temptations
  3. Personal Transformation
  4. Confronting False Teachings
  5. Praise

Unwavering Faith:

A big part of our faith is being able to truly trust God's plan, look to Him for direction, and be strengthened by His love.

The lyrics in the following four songs express gratitude for His blessings and acknowledge His role in overcoming the challenges we face in life. The following lyrics stand out:

  • Praise His Name - 'Trust the Spirit, not the men, Most these men, will never understand, That His Grace is there for everyone'
  • If You Give Your Pride - 'If you give up your pride, You’ll see the reason why, He sacrificed His Son, For us to have eternal life'
  • Better Days - 'Oh Lord, give me words to speak, In the time of need, When they question me'
  • Eternal Life - 'God gave us the Spirit, So we could see, The world He created, For you and me'

Resisting Temptations:

Three songs contrast the peace that we find in faith with the emptiness that comes from pursuing our worldly desires. Our focus is on resisting temptation and choosing to follow a righteous path. The following lyrics stand out:

  • I Don't Want Your Fruit - 'Would you know when it’s enough? Or do you plan to spend your life, Chasing after broken dreams, Wasting time, again, it seems'
  • To The Mountains, Through The Snow - 'The world in distress oh the world in distress, The world in distress do you see it by now?, Away from this mess oh away from this mess, Come join me my brother I will show you how'
  • What a Beautiful Girl - 'Oh, what a beautiful girl, God gave her voice, like you’ve never heard, Oh what a beautiful girl, Don’t let them drag you into their world'

Personal Transformation (change):

What happens when you fill yourself with faith and do your best to resist temptation? It's cause and effect. It leads to personal growth and spiritual awakening. A life-long journey of overcoming doubt, finding freedom in faith, and ultimately having a better understanding of God's purpose. Three songs address this theme. The following lyrics stand out:

  • Climbing for His Glory - uses the climbing mountains as a metaphor for overcoming challenges and striving for spiritual growth - 'Climbing up all alone, This journey’s for the one, The one who gave us this world, This beautiful world, this beautiful world'
  • Saving Grace - reflecting on the Israelites' rebellion despite all of God's miracles - 'Oh Lord would tell me what’s wrong with them, Why would they keep living as slaves, Oh Lord I am praying don’t turn away, I’m faithful in your saving grace'
  • Better Days - 'I’ll pray that one day they can see, And maybe one day they can walk away from misery, Abandon their wicked ways, For the better days, the better days'
  • Freedom - 'I know you want to be with me, But you have to let me go, I’ve got too many trails to walk, And mountains to climb, and mountains to climb…'
  • Now That My Eyes Can See - 'But now that my eyes can see, That that’s how I used to be (Oh yea, I was), Until my flesh has finally found, His love has always been around' (This song also contributes to the next theme.)

Confronting False Teachings:

It can be quite a challenge to separate truth from flawed teachings. Some teachings can be flawed, dispite the honest intent of the person sharing these teachings. We constantly need to be aware that flaws, or even outright lies, sneek into our minds and hearts. These songs challenge prevailing societal narratives, particularly regarding the theory of evolution. The lyrics promote staying close to the source of trues a creationist and criticise the perceived indoctrination by 'liars' who spread falsehoods. Three songs address this theme. The following lyrics stand out:

  • Liar, Liar… - 'Liar, liar, pants on fire, Why’d you have to lie, to me?, You say we come from monkeys, but there’s a missing link, Why don’t you ever tell us, there’s one for everything?'
  • Now That My Eyes Can See - 'I know that they told you that we are just bunch of monkeys, And we are running around somehow developing conscience'

Praise:

Once we realize everything that God has done for us, how can we not fall to our knees to express our gratitude?

  • Grateful to the One - expressing our gratitude for family, the ability to discern right from wrong, and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ - 'I am grateful to the One, For the daughter for the son, Blessings given me, I did not see, And now I see'

We encourage you to listen to this album. May its message of faith, hope, and personal transformation encourage you as you climb your mountains, filling you with unwaivering confidence that God has got your back.

Riley Clemmons - Stuck Inside My Head - Single Mix (CCM)

Riley Clemmons has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Stuck Inside My Head - Single Mix. The song 'Inside My Head' was born out of a season of pain and healing. As a result, the song has a way of speaking about life's difficulties that is accessible and relatable to everyone.  "As I was writing and dreaming up this record, "says Riley, "there was never a plan to create anything but honest music, born from hurting, growing, and healing. I collected songs for this body of work much like I collected every experience I found myself in the middle of over the past couple of years... the highs & lows, the conversations with God, the questions about my identity, the heartbreak, and the healing." Although the music addresses life's hurts, it does much more than that. The trials of life, according to Clemmons, are ordained by God so we can draw close to him. "The thread that began to connect them all quickly became the idea tha...

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
